Pilates Matwork Classes

Pilates matwork classes are group based classes with a maximum of 10 people per class. These are mixed ability group classes that run as courses during school term only and last for 1 hour. A varied programme of exercises is delivered for the duration of the course. Gradual progression is made by starting with the basic levels, and then as you progress through the course, further levels and variations are provided. Challenges are also offered by using different equipment such as over balls, swiss balls, resistance rings, foam rollers, balance pads, wobble cushions, and dyna-bands.

Parent and Baby Postnatal Pilates (Matwork)

Parent and Baby Postnatal Pilates classes are group based classes with a maximum of 7 people per class. The class runs for 60 minutes. You will regain stability, strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, re-educate your body, retrain your abdominal muscles, and correct any postural issues following the natural changes in your body during pregnancy. The emphasis is to help your postnatal recovery to help you regain pre-pregnancy fitness. Classes are held in a relaxed environment where the needs of your baby come first and while you exercise your baby will be by your side. NB. It is not advisable to return to exercise until at least six weeks after the birth and ten weeks or longer if you had a Caesarean section. Make sure you always check with your GP before returning to exercise.

Exercise Referral

Equilibrium Pilates & Fitness offers a referral scheme which lasts for 12 weeks. It is supervised by qualified staff who will make sure that you have a safe, effective, and appropriate programme targeted to your needs. Our aim is to give you an enjoyable start to a more active healthier lifestyle.

How the Referral Scheme works

A local GP or other Health Professional refers patients by issuing them with a 'Referral Form'. This referral contains details of any medical problems the patient may have which will need consideration when one of our qualified instructors is formulating an appropriate exercise programme.

What can I do next?

Following a referral by your surgery, contact us to arrange an initial consultation. Please bring along your referral form to your first appointment for the instructor to see and assess the document. We will also give you some simple health checks and discuss your goals and exercise options.
